SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO NOW?

SELLERS WANT TO KNOW, SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO?

It is understandable that a seller will want the best possible price for their home.  Right now some sellers are confused as to what the market conditions are doing.  If you want to know if you will get more or less for your home if you sell next year the answer most likely is, less.

When you look at Corelogic's home price index for January, you can see prices declining.

The various factors such as, reduction of government incentives for home buyers, economy, shadow inventory contribute to what some call, a 'double dip'.

HERE'S THE BOTTOM LINE

If you are thinking of selling your home within the next year or two, now may be 'as good as it gets' when needing that top dollar from your sale.  Always check with your real estate professional to see the market conditions for your area.

I don't think this guy cares about home values but is anticipating the arrival of the baby buffalo. Took this photo at Fermilab in Batavia Illinois on March 6th, 2011.  You can view all of the photo's on my flickr account.  I will post new ones after the babies are born in April.

There are many factors that go into making a decision about whether or not you need to stage your home.  Is it a buyers market or a sellers market?  What is your competition, the comparable properties in your area.  How much staging is necessary, if at all?  These are things that your agent will determine and help you make an informative decision. Not all agents are alike.  Some may believe strongly that it is going to be beneficial to stage your home and will show you the stats to back it up.  The stats are true BUT it can be misleading and the stats used may be irrelevant to your situation. Every home and the sellers situation are unique.  Staging DOES help but that doesn't mean you will have to hire a professional stager and pay thousands of dollars. If we are in a buyers market you will want to lead the market and not be chasing after it, that is how you will lose money.  Mo...
