Going Green in Homeownership

If someone said, "Do you want a green home?" the answer may be, "No I prefer blue".  Now it seems going green is everywhere.   Even HGTV has a 'Green Home Giveaway'.  Real estate agents can earn a 'green' designation.  I'm someone who loves old homes so buying 'green' may not be high on my list if I'm looking for a historic home.  I'm all for conserving energy and like 'natural' materials but I feel homes with too much stone, concrete and glass have a 'cold' feel to them.  I suppose the younger generation may love this look and feel.  The Chicago  Museum of Science and Industry has a 'smart home exhibit'.  I found a video of this exhibit on Realtor.org, check it out and see what you think.  green home video

Not all agents are alike.  Some may believe strongly that it is going to be beneficial to stage your home and will show you the stats to back it up.  The stats are true BUT it can be misleading and the stats used may be irrelevant to your situation. Every home and the sellers situation are unique.  Staging DOES help but that doesn't mean you will have to hire a professional stager and pay thousands of dollars. If we are in a buyers market you will want to lead the market and not be chasing after it, that is how you will lose money.  Mo...
