What It's Like To Live In Naperville

The one question I am asked over and over again is, "How do you like living in Naperville?".  The answer to that question is twofold.  First and foremost it's home to me plain and simple.  I grew up here, hung out at the beach,  ate at the old Burger King (located on Washington Street in town) and have my memories here.  So in that sense this is where I feel comfortable.  I'm sad that they tore down so much of those days like the old Cock Robin, many of the historic homes in town and on the north side of the tracks, etc.  It may  be fair to say I don't like change when it has to do with my childhood memories.  Yet, when they tore down my old junior high school (Washington Jr. High) I wasn't affected in the least.  Can't explain that because so many other changes seemed to bother me.

Today I enjoy all it has become so in that regard I appreciate what others are attracted to when they choose to move here.  I love the beautiful riverwalk, the many restaurants, pubs, shopping, medical and great transportation.  I personally like being very centrally located.  I'm a hop, skip and a jump to I88 as well as all the surrounding towns.  It takes me a few minutes to be in Wheaton, Lisle, Downers Grove, Bolingbrook, Aurora and Warrenville.

I'm also a big library person and you just can't beat Nichols Library.  When I grew up I remember going to the original library located on Washington Street next door to the YMCA.   I loved that building and think they missed the boat when they didn't keep using it.  It would have made a great children's library.  Not sure what the thought process was there.  Yesterday I went to the library on 95th Street (south naperville) for the first time and didn't care too much for it.  It seems so stark and cold inside but that's because I'm not a big fan of contemporary and it's definitely that.  Our library has been voted number one in the country so I'm lucky to be within minutes from it.  On the down side parking is mostly used  by people who want to go downtown.  There have been many times I could not park so I just left which frustrates me.  They don't do anything to try and keep that from happening.  Not so much as a 'Private Parking' sign.  You know, the old 'violators will be towed'.  Maybe those don't work well but I promise you if a few people get towed and pass the word along they'll stop.

I find people friendly here and have never had a problem with anyone being rude when dining out or at any public business.

When you go very south it seems I've left Naperville.  I always thought they should have had, Naperville and South Naperville.  Again though I am coming from a very biased place because I grew on the north side which is all there was to the town back then!

By Jackie Beardsley WHAT JACKIE DOES TO GET HOMES SOLD! When Sellers had to move and the home was left vacant, this is how I helped them reach their goals in just a few days.  Above is my MLS photo of the kitchen which beautifully shows off their hard work. When I was asked to help out of state Sellers get their home sold quickly, it was a challenge well worth the hard work ahead.  First, I did a CMA for selling the property AS IS (picture below).

By Jackie Beardsley Staging your home for sale-is it necessary? There are many factors that go into making a decision about whether or not you need to stage your home.  Is it a buyers market or a sellers market?  What is your competition, the comparable properties in your area.  How much staging is necessary, if at all?  These are things that your agent will determine and help you make an informative decision. Not all agents are alike.  Some may believe strongly that it is going to be beneficial to stage your home and will show you the stats to back it up.  The stats are true BUT it can be misleading and the stats used may be irrelevant to your situation. Every home and the sellers situation are unique.  Staging DOES help but that doesn't mean you will have to hire a professional stager and pay thousands of dollars. If we are in a buyers market you will want to lead the market and not be chasing after it, that is how you will lose money.  Mo...
